Sabina Ali
Campus:
IU Bloomington
Major:
Ph.D. in Religious Studies
Hometown:
Moscow, Russia; Atlanta, GA, USA

Where did you complete your Undergraduate Studies?

Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA

What degree are you working toward?

I am pursuing a PhD in Religious Studies. My focus is Religion in the Americas and a minor in Judaic Studies.

Why did you choose graduate school at IU Bloomington?

I chose graduate school at IU Bloomington because I was excited to work with faculty who are dedicated to interdisciplinary, culturally contextual approaches to religious studies; to gain teaching experience and learn pedagogical methodologies in our field; and to join a vibrant intellectual community and grow as a scholar of religion.

What's been your favorite academic accomplishment since you've been here?

I am just starting at IU Bloomington this Fall, so my favorite academic accomplishment so far has been getting accepted! I am also very grateful for receiving the Borns Jewish Studies Program Graduate Fellowship in my first year.

What do you enjoy most about life in Bloomington?

I am still in the process of moving and getting to know Bloomington, but so far I have really enjoyed being able to walk everywhere, especially coming from Atlanta. I am also looking forward to exploring all of the nature and state parks in the area.
