The gradSERU Survey is a comprehensive, longitudinal study that answers questions about the relationship between graduate education experiences, program characteristics, and student development outcomes.
Designed to be an academic and policy research collaboration among the nation’s leading institutions, the gradSERU Survey provides comparative data about the factors frequently documented to make a difference in the success of graduate and professional students from a cross-institutional perspective.
Why does it matter?
The career paths pursued by graduate students are changing and diversifying at a tremendous rate. More than ever, today’s graduate programs need to continuously examine both purpose and structure to address student attrition, promote timely degree completion, and prepare students for the future. gradSERU provides institutions with a mechanism for obtaining invaluable feedback that helps keep programs current. This insight offers a deeper understanding of the graduate student experience and provides the context, guidance, and supporting data necessary to make changes that improve student outcomes.
Graduate students who are currently pursing academics at Indiana University Bloomington campus, including both professional and research degrees.
This survey is a chance for graduate students to share their valuable feedback about their experiences for better understanding and improvement.
Individual student responses for the survey and any data regarding student identity are kept confidential.
Results are reported to academic departments and administration at the Indiana University Bloomington’s Graduate School and are used to improve our graduate programs and services. We also share our data with other universities in the gradSERU consortium to improve our understanding of educational best practices at leading research universities. The collected data is used by researchers, professors, and students from various countries to gain a better understanding of how to improve the graduate and professional student experience.
