Mohamadreza Babaee, PhD, is a transdisciplinary scholar and artist whose work bridges research, creative practice, and academic leadership. He currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Opportunity and Success at Indiana University's University Graduate School in Bloomington, where he leads campus-wide efforts to recruit, retain, and support graduate students. He directs programs such as the Summer Scholars Institute and Getting You Into IU, oversees university-wide graduate fellowships, and chairs the IUB Graduate Recruitment Council. Through cross-campus collaboration and strategic planning, Mohamadreza works to expand access to graduate education and foster a thriving, inclusive academic community.
Dr. Babaee's research explores the diasporic construction of West Asian identities through frameworks such as media studies, migration theory, and critical surveillance studies. In addition to his scholarly work, his artistic practice engages with themes of displacement and belonging, using live performance, multimedia installation, and interactive formats such as video games to illuminate the immigrant and refugee experience.
