Where did you complete your Undergraduate Studies?
Florida A and M University
What degree are you working toward?
A doctorate in Higher Education with a minor in Counseling Psychology
Why did you choose graduate school at IU Bloomington?
In 2016, I had the opportunity to participate in the recruitment program, Getting You Into IU. This program played an integral role in my decision to come to IUB. During the program, I was able to connect with graduate students from my program of interest as well as faculty and staff. However, it was my interaction with the graduate student in the program which solidified my decision to come to IUB. The supportive community and the resources that was available to me here also played a role in my decision to pursue my terminal degree here at IUB
What's been your favorite academic accomplishment since you've been here?
When I think of academic accomplishments, two comes to mind. Getting my first publication from a paper that was written my first semester in the program. Also, most recently, helping to plan a HBCU Day at ASHE 2018 for Juniors and Seniors who are from an underserved background in Tampa Florida. Both accomplishments gives me the fuel to continue to push and move forward despite obstacles that may arise.
What do you enjoy most about life in Bloomington?
Life in Bloomington is chill which I enjoy and appreciate. I love the cultural programs that both IU and the Bloomington community offers throughout the year and well as seeing the leaves change from season to season.
