Why did you choose graduate school at IU Bloomington?
Community-centered research was an important consideration in my decision. I found that professors within the School of Public Health emphasized community-based participatory research by establishing equitable partnerships with local and international communities. It was important for me to join an institution that values community empowerment and applied research in transformative ways beyond the ivory tower.
What's been your favorite academic accomplishment since you've been here?
The flexibility and encouragement in pursuing and contributing to multiple research projects spanning the topics of teenage pregnancy, air quality, and environmental justice. Doing so has enabled me to dialogue with peers in other disciplines by joining groups such as the Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society (CRRES).
