Getting You into IU is sponsored in part by the National Science Foundation's Midwest Crossroads Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) program at IU. This program is designed to encourage underrepresented minority students who are competitively eligible for Ph.D. programs in the STEM disciplines to apply to Indiana University. The recruitment program includes:
- Sessions on preparing competitive applications for graduate admission and fellowships
- Pre-arranged individual and group meetings with IU faculty arranged separately for each participating student
- Opportunity to sit in on classes in their discipline of interest
- Tours of the STEM departments and research facilities
- Formal and informal sessions with current graduate students to talk about the degree programs and graduate student life at Indiana University
- Tours of the local area including Lotus World Music Festival in Bloomington and Circle City Classic in Indianapolis
Applicants must be US citizens or Permanent Residents who will have completed a bachelor’s degree prior to the 2009-10 academic year. For this program, applicants should be: (1) interested in obtaining a Ph.D. degree in one of the participating STEM disciplines listed above; and, (2) open to pursue a career in the professoriate and academic research.
